Home / Photo contest! How do you interpret Gothenburg and rain?
14 February 2020

The project Rain Gothenburg wants to make Gothenburg the world’s best city when it rains, based on human needs and nature’s cycle. Using creative design, the project aims to create ideas and solutions that handle and make use of rain. Solutions and ideas that make Gothenburg a more sustainable, attractive and fun city. We are curious to see how you interpret rain and Gothenburg using photography. That’s why Rain Gothenburg, Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary and Göteborg & Co, are inviting you to join this photo contest!

– The purpose of the contest is for the Gothenburg citizens themselves to contribute their interpretations of the city when it rains. We want to see interesting, creative, rainy pictures of Gothenburg, says Jens Thoms Ivarsson, artistic director of Rain Gothenburg.

Rain Gothenburg is one of Gothenburg’s 400-year anniversary initiatives. The project aims have the city prepared for the coming torrential downpours and floods, but also to seize the rain’s opportunity to provide unique experiences.
– When planning the anniversary, many citizens wished to come closer to the water in all its different forms, for example to make the archipelago and the sea more accessible and to be able to swim in the middle of the city. The Rain Gothenburg anniversary initiative is a good example of how the city uses the water in a creative way, says Sofia Berntsson, development manager, Gothenburg 400-year anniversary.
