Home / Gothenburg is the motif on this year’s first stamps
14 January 2021

Now that Gothenburg is 400 years old, PostNord is taking the opportunity to release five stamps that illustrate Gothenburg.

– It feels fantastic that Gothenburg is the motif on this year’s first stamps. A great way to celebrate the city’s 400th anniversary. And a nice way to send a part of Gothenburg to someone you like, says Mia Samuelsson, Creative Director at Göteborg & Co.

Five stamps are being released that illustrate famous views of Gothenburg.

The motifs are a result of the city’s citizens being able to submit tips on their favorite places and buildings in their district in 2020. A selection has since been illustrated by local artists living around Gothenburg. The 100 illustrations are produced by Göthenburgo and have been shown at the exhibition 100 Places, 10 Illustrators – One City. Some of these illustrations have been made into collages that have now become stamp motifs.

– To be part of Gothenburg’s celebration is great fun! Many of us who work at PostNord in Gothenburg have a strong love for our city. We at PostNord handle about seven million letters a day and appreciate letter writing. Our postmen and drivers have strong local knowledge, I think we know every street and address in this city, says Håkan Schiller, distribution manager at PostNord in central Gothenburg.
