Home / Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary aims for 2023 with a new logo and new addresses!
20 January 2022

Following a decision in 2020, Gothenburg’s 400th anniversary in 2021 was set to be celebrated in a pandemic-proof manner. The official birthday 4 June 2021 was celebrated with a live TV program together with Göteborgs-Posten.

With this magnificent anniversary year in the rearview mirror, we are now looking forward to 2023. Then we look forward to celebrating our beloved Gothenburg with all of you – when in June we invite you to a big festival and an exhibition on urban development that lasts throughout the summer.

In addition, we will be able to celebrate together with all the institutions that in 2023 will be 100 years old. It was the case that when Gothenburg was to celebrate its 300th anniversary as well. That anniversary was also moved forward – due to a pandemic and the situation in the world after the war. Gothenburg’s 300th anniversary was therefore celebrated in 1923, with the city building Liseberg, the Art Museum, Slottsskogsvallen and the Botanical Garden. Therefore, we can now celebrate with them, in this historically delayed way!

Until then, we will continue to tell you about everything that happens and is planned in the celebration of Gothenburg here on the website and in our social media. Now when we aim for 2023, we have changed our name to @goteborg2023, and you can now find our website at goteborg2023.com.
