Blueways, Greenways and Oases
The aim of this anniversary initiative is to create social, cultural and ecological meeting places in the city by 2021. In response to the wishes of residents, blueways and greenways will make it easier for people to get around and meet others from different parts of the city, relax and enjoy culture and nature
Blueways, Greenways and Oases have steadily helped to create more places and paths to the anniversary year, including the fruit grove in Slottsskogen city park (2015) and the green space near Saluhall Briggen (2015). This initiative also helped to organise Gothenburg Green World (2016).
A number of smaller oases have also been established and possible routes for future blueways and greenways in the city have been investigated. In 2018, this initiative focused on Kvilledalen and the creation of the Kvillestråket greenway (2016–2018). Facilities here include an outdoor gym, and a dance floor that was a result of consultation with young girls in the city – a group who are often overlooked when it comes to urban development. This initiative has given girls a chance to create somewhere for themselves and directly influence the urban space.
